The Great SpaceInvader Bake Off Raises £500 for Charity

Over the past eight weeks we have been running The Great SpaceInvader Bake Off to raise money for the Nightingale House Hospice in Wrexham.

The competition involved team members going head to head in a weekly bake off for a place in the grand final and a chance to be crowned ‘Master Baker 2015’. Each week two bakers were given a ‘Signature Challenge’ from Classic Home Bakes, to Ultimate Cheesecakes, Bread Week and Savoury Petit Fours, and the winner was decided by an anonymous vote. A minimum 50p donation was required to take part in the tastings to ensure we raised as much money as possible.

The ‘Showstopper’ final took place on Monday 12th October and our eight finalists were challenged to create a ‘Space’ themed bake. A selection of clients and consultants were invited to make up our prestigious judging panel and decide who should win based on technical ability, taste and presentation. We had some incredible bakes but the overall winner and Master Baker 2015 is architectural technologist, Abdi Farah with his heavenly carrot cake ‘moon’!! Jason Oak came second with this ‘dark matter’ chocolate cake and George’s ‘space nativity’ came third.
