Case study:

31 Booth Street

One of Manchester’s most iconic buildings, 31 Booth Street has been relaunched following a £2.3million revamp, with SpaceInvader being responsible for the Grade II listed building’s innovative reception area.

31 Booth Street, formerly known as Fountain Court, has undergone a 10-month refurbishment programme. SpaceInvader, appointed by Helical and working alongside OMI Architects, were given the signature task of designing a remarkable and memorable new lobby.

SpaceInvader responded to the brief in the unique and distinctive manner that we have come to expect of their team. The reception space has transformed the arrival experience for our clients and guests, ensuring that the building offers a new perspective within Manchester's civic quarter.

Our response was to develop a palette in keeping with the building's history, with materials, detailing and furniture taking inspiration from the Venetian Gothic style of architecture prevalent in many areas of the city. We were sensitive to the building's location in Manchester's Civic quarter, its heritage and the need for the entrance to really make a lasting impression.

Accessing the space through a relocated and restored entrance, visitors and tenants alike are now greeted by a striking triple height space leading to the visitor lounge and building core with access to the fully refurbished suites beyond.
