SpaceInvader secures coveted National BCO Award
Great news, we’ve been named national winners at the British Council for Offices (BCO) awards for our interior design work at Number One Kirkstall Forge in Leeds.
The project scooped the gong in the Commercial Workplace category, which recognises excellence in buildings designed for commercial letting.
Spearheaded by Sarah Dodsworth, Associate Director and Head of our studio in Leeds, the project at Kirkstall Forge has transformed the UK’s oldest industrial site into a thriving mixed-use community where SpaceInvader were the interior designers on the project.
Not only has the development secured an EPC ‘A’ and ‘Excellent’ BREEAM accreditation, it is also the first in Yorkshire to secure ‘Platinum’ certification by digital connectivity rating company Wired Score.
This award follows our success in the BCO regional heats, where our work with Hilson Moran to fit out their offices in Manchester won the Northern Region Innovation Award.
Within the building our team also designed the fit out of the new 65,000 sqft office suite for independent leasing, vehicle outsourcing and fleet management provider Zenith, providing the firm with a flexible and agile space for staff relocating there.
Sarah Dodsworth, Associate Director at SpaceInvader, said: “Kirkstall Forge is one of the largest and most inspiring regeneration projects in the north of England, bringing together industrial heritage, sustainability, cultural values and the highest quality design. Through careful planning, our team has delivered a truly unique office space that reflects the best of modern workplace design, incorporating state of the art facilities whilst paying homage to the building’s rural setting.
“It’s fantastic for our work to have been recognised by the BCO having opened our office in Leeds just one year ago.”
The BCO awards define excellence in office space, recognising top quality design and functionality and providing a benchmark for excellence in workplaces."
