We have been working closely with Stockport Council and the people of Stockport on a large-scale regeneration scheme for Stockport Town Centre, using the government’s Future High Street Fund to offer new facilities that breathe life back into the high street.

The scheme encompasses our thinking as a studio around designing interior spaces that positively contribute to local communities and enhance culture. We are very proud to be working on a project of this relevance and importance in our times.

The space is a ‘learning and discovery store’ which will inspire, entertain and support the people of Stockport and bring vibrancy and animation to the Town Centre, better supporting the town’s shops and businesses.

The existing library is a separate offering, and although it is located in a beautiful heritage building it is inaccessible and therefore not fit for purpose to serve the whole community. Combining the library facility with a museum, cafe and events space create will create more of a central hub as well as bringing new life into a large, unused space.

“We brought SpaceInvader on board to work with us. Their work on Central Library to bring it right up to the 21st century was second to none. We want to harness that and have something that doesn’t currently exist and hasn’t currently existed for many, many years.”
