Purpose
SpaceInvader is a multi-award-winning interior design agency and fast-becoming one of the UK’s premier design consultancies. The company was originally founded in 2009 by Director/Founder John Williams and started life as a commercial sector specialist, working on building refurbishments (Cat A) and fit-out works (Cat B), before developing its offer further into the hotel and hospitality, retail, education and community-based sectors, as well as, more recently, the growing market in PRS residential schemes.
“They’re head and shoulders above most of their direct competitors. They speak a different language.”
The company’s talented interiors, graphics and CGI team, backed by highly-accomplished technical and principal designers, is based in SpaceInvader’s central Manchester studio. The whole team is dedicated to exploring design’s potential to enhance people’s lives. The studio’s philosophy is to be adaptable, inclusive and to listen very carefully to client wishes, bringing energy, ideas and commitment to every project, but never imposing a design solution.
“From inception to delivery, the team at SpaceInvader balance their exceptional creative capability with attention to detail and an industry leading knowledge of specification that is essential for the high footfall demands of our sites. They have a can-do attitude and always work collaboratively with us to ensure that the finished environment not only looks ahead of it’s time for our customers, but delivers a sustainable, high performance environment for our staff and business.”
“Other practices try to impose a signature or a particular style. SpaceInvader have a single focus – delivering our brief, not their agenda. There are no egos involved.”
What we’re really about is a uniquely successful outcome for our clients, which can only arise out of a spirit of collaboration, partnership and a commitment to good communication. We offer clients a real commercial understanding and are in constant conversation with developers, hoteliers and end-users to help maximise value from every square metre of space.
“As you would imagine, we have to be absolutely confident when we recommend that they will produce work of a high quality to prospective customers, so we don’t do it lightly. John and his team are so good that it’s a very simple decision. Everything from how they present themselves to how they conduct the process of taking a brief makes that clear.”
“SpaceInvader have been working with Accor for 5 years on a number of our hotel brands such as Tribe, Pullman, Greet and Ibis. They are a joy to collaborate with and, as well as understanding the intricacies of our different brands, they bring their own element of unique creativity to every single project. They listen and work hard to deliver what we need and their understanding of lifestyle hospitality, deep knowledge of materials and finishes ensures our spaces are robust and fit for purpose.”
The final tenets that drive us are our commitments to the wellbeing of end-users and the planet via our dedicated approach to sustainability. The first element of these focuses on materials, the supply chain and their circularity. The second, on health and wellbeing, includes a strong natural biophilic and biodiverse philosophy with consideration of accessibility and inclusivity. The third is a commitment to combatting climate change through minimal energy use and a whole-life-approach, including high-durability levels in all FF&E specifications, low through-life maintenance and the design of furniture and materials for easy reconfiguration and disassembly. Finally, a commitment to ethics and equality, which means prioritising local suppliers and ensuring a sense of location and locality.
