Featured in FX Magazine - Weave: Redefining Manchester’s Piccadilly Gardens Pavilion

What if a single project could reshape how we experience a city?

At SpaceInvader, we believe public spaces have the power to transform how we connect, engage, and thrive as communities. When given the opportunity to redesign Manchester’s iconic Piccadilly Gardens Pavilion, we knew we weren’t just updating a structure, we were reimagining a vital part of the city’s heart.

"Weave" is more than just an addition to the Pavilion

Originally built for The Commonwealth Games in 2002, the Pavilion stood as a visual and acoustic barrier for over two decades. While functional, it was in need of a transformation, one that would breathe new life into the space and enhance its role in Manchester’s urban landscape.

Our solution? "Weave", a stunning art installation created in collaboration with the brilliant Manchester artist Lazerian and the innovative lighting designers at Artin. Light.

"Weave" is more than just an addition to the Pavilion, it’s a celebration of its history and a vision for its future. Through dynamic lighting and intricate design, we’ve transformed the structure into a place that feels loved, respected, and alive. This isn’t just a redesign; it’s a redefinition of what public spaces can be.

We’re thrilled to see this transformation featured in the latest issue of FX Magazine. A huge thank you to the team for showcasing the story behind this project and its impact.

With "Weave," we’ve taken a step toward reshaping Manchester’s public spaces for the better. Because when design meets purpose, the possibilities for our cities are endless.
